The Great Compromise or Connecticut Compromise was proposed by Connecticut delegate Roger Sherman to combine both the Virginia Plan and New Jersey Plan.

Henry Clay (1777 - 1852), called the 'Great Pacificator' or 'Great Compromiser,' in remembrance of his efforts in the 1820 Missouri Compromise.
It was Henry Clay who earned the nickname The Great Compromiser. Clay served as the United States Senator from Kentucky from 1849 to 1852.
