Who was a suspect for the Ted Bundy murders?

After the abduction of two young women in one day at Lake Sammamish in Washington state the police had a decent description and a possible name to go on. 'Ted' had been seen by enough people that day to give investigators a suspect. They also had a description of Ted's car, a tan Volkswagon Bug. At that time Seattle police were interviewing hundreds of possible suspects but virtually all had been cleared one way or another.
