Egya Ahor lived in the 12th century. He belonged to the Anona royal family of the Gomoa traditional area of the fante land. He led the fantes in their migration from Techiman to their present day settlement. He was the chief priest of the fante god 'Akyen' which the fantes believed protected them. He told the fantes to celebrate the Akyemu festival. He planted tres which symbolized peace and unity among the people. He helped the poor and the needy and he sacrificed himself to control the epidemic of the land.
