Barrabus was a criminal who was in jail at the time Jesus was around. Each year the Roman Goveorners would release 1 person from prison. Pontius Pilot asked the people if they wanted Barrabus ( who was a mass murderer ) or Jesus to be let out into civilisation. The people chose Barrabus to be released and Jesus to be killed. for more info look in the gospels of The Bible.

Barrabas was Clara's massive dog of undefinable origin. I believe he represents "the continuing cycle of life, and how everything changes but remains the same" since he keeps turning up in the book until the very end. I'm not sure of this, though, so you might want to check other sources to see what he symbolizes.
Barabbas.was the man who was set free by the jews when asked by the roman govener who should be crucified jesus or barrabas. i don't think the theif was named
There is not enough evidence from the New Testament to determine what sect Barrabas belonged to (and he is not discussed in other contemporary sources). As a result, it would be most likely that, if he lived, he was a Pharisee, since most Jews at that time were Pharisees.
No, Bararabbas was the one that was to be released after the Passover. It was a traditioon that one be set free after the passover. Pilate offered Jesus as the one to be released after the Passover but the people requested Barrabas. As the passover was not complete, he would have still been in jail. See Luke 23:18
Barrabas was one of the Jews on trial with Jesus Christ. his Hebrew name is "Bar Abba", בר-אבא, meaning "father's son"
Jesus didn't save any thief. He was crucified alongside two common thieves, as it was easier to do them all at once rather than individually. He was crucified as the option instead of Barrabas, a murderer who was released through an apparently traditional public "forgiveness".
Pontius Pilate certainly could have freed Jesus. Historians say that it would have been unacceptable to the Roman authorities for a Roman governor to give in to the demands of the Jews in the way described in the gospels. If he really did sentence Jesus to crucifixion without due cause, he would have risked immediate recall to Rome, in disgrace. Whether or not Pontius Pilate would have altered the course of Christian history by freeing Jesus is a matter for debate. Many scholars believe that the beginning of Christianity had very little to do with the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.
