Ernest Henry Shackleton CVO OBE was a famous explorer. He was part of many expeditions Arctic, Antarctic plus lots more. He died of a heart attack while on board a ship and was buried on the island of South Georgia.

There were 28 crew members aboard the Endurance during the ill-fated Antarctic expedition led by Sir Ernest Shackleton in 1914.
Sir ernest shackleton survived when his boat sank by jumping off the boat and collecting everthing they needed off the boat and sir ernest told his crew to get off the boat before it sank.
The base from which he made the South Pole attempt was at Ross Island near Mount Erebus at approximately 77 degrees S latitude and 166 degrees E longitude.
