It is tamils were first in srilanka, reason is that, when Emperor ashoka's son set his foot in northern srilanka, he was welcomed and served by an elderly Tamil speaking lady , local tamils of srilanka. then only sinhalese with Buddhist monks entered srlanka and started to thrive on with the support and hospitality of srilankan tamils.

my knowledge based on my reading of history, the tamils had the opportunity to reach Sri Lanka once a land occupied by none. first and later Sinhalese came from different regions of Asia and increased their population three times more than tamils. there were wars between tamil kings and singalese kings and when europeans like portugese, english, french arrived sri lanka dominated and ruled srilanka and ultimately british ruled entire sri lanka and british gave freedom to srilanka to singalese and sealed the fate of the tamils and from then onwards the singalese who are in majority wiping the Tamil population in the name of war against the tamil tigers who are freedom fighters. but i dont understand why india, Russia and china are helping singalese to commit genocide against tamils and how and when European countries Australia and us will get freedom to Tamils in srilanka
