The most notable ruler of Crete would be Minos. It is said that Minos was a crafty ruler who despised the architect Daedalus for making his daughters despise him. Minos many times used his influence as the ruler of Crete to pressure the kings of other nations who were helping Daedalus. It is said in Greek mythology that even after his death by the daughters of the king of Cocalus, Minos plaugued Daedalus in his dreams until Daedalus was able to hide from the "Ghost King" in his labyrinth.
