France and England.
Richard I, also called Richard the Lion Hearted, was King of England during part of the Crusades. He married his queen, Berengaria, in 1191, while he and his troops were on the island of Cyprus. Then Richard left on a Crusade to the Holy Land. His queen spent the rest of her life in Palestine, Italy, and France, and never once set foot in England!Richard himself rarely saw England. He spent only about six months of his ten-year reign in the nation that he ruled!

Victoria was Queen of England from 1819 until 1901. During the French Revolution (1789-1799) the revolutionists killed their last real King and Queen, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Then Napoleon came to power, making France an Empire. After Napoleon, the monarchy was restored for a while, though Louis XVIII and Charles X never had actual power, they were only King in name.During Victoria's reign, Napoleon's wife (the Empress of France) was Marie Louise of Austria. Then when Napoleon got exiled Louis XVIII restored the monarchy and his wife (then Queen of France, but only in name) was Marie Josephine Louise of Savoy. When his brother, Charles X, succeeded him, Marie-Thérèse de Savoie, became the new Queen of France (but again, only in name). After Charles, Louis-Philippe became King of France (only in name) and his wife was Marie Amalie of Bourbon. After that, France became a republic once again and Jacques-Charles Dupont L'eure became the head of State of the second republic (the first president of France). He was never married.

she never really had a job-because she was the daughter of the Empress of Austria and later the Queen of France. The only "job" she had once she was married was to have children to continue the French monarchy.
At the end of WW1, the Arab lands once controlled by the Ottoman Empire came under the control of England and France.
