Following the end of Paynter's term as Governor of Delaware, Charles Polk Jr. (born November 15, 1788 in Bridgeville, Delaware; died October 27, 1857 in Milford, Delaware) became the twenty-seventh Governor of Delaware, serving between January 16, 1827 and January 19, 1830.
