Robinson (born July 21, 1818 in Hardwick, Massachusetts; died August 17, 1894 in Douglas County, Kansas), the first Governor of Kansas, served between February 9, 1861 and January 12, 1863. Following the end of Robinson's term as Governor, Thomas Carney (born January 12, 1863 in Delaware County, Ohio; died July 28, 1888 in Leavenworth, Kansas) became the second Governor of Kansas, serving between January 12, 1863 and January 9, 1865.
