Thomas Chittenden (born January 6, 1730 in East Guilford, Connecticut; died August 25, 1797 in Willston, Vermont), the first Governor of Vermont, served between March 4, 1791 and August 25, 1797, including the whole of 1795.

Following the end of Fletcher's term as Governor, Hiland Hall (born July 20, 1795 in Bennington, Vermont; died December 18, 1885 in Springfield, Massachusetts) became the twenty-fifth Governor of Vermont, serving between October 10, 1858 and October 12, 1860.
