Amadou Toumani Touré was the President of Mali in 2010. He first took power by militarily overthrowing Moussa Traoré in a coup d'état on 1991 March 26 after public protests. Appointing himself Chairman of the National Reconciliation Council, he organized a national council, which created Mali's current constitution and scheduled elections for 1992, in which Alpha Oumar Konaré was made President.
