Ceres is the Roman goddess of grain, harvest, and agriculture. She was said to be the daughter of Saturn and his sister, Ops. There was an annual festival held in April to celebrate her called the Cerealia. Fun Fact: The word cereal comes from her name. In Greek mythology she is identified with Demeter, the goddess of fertility. The connection lying in the fertility of the land and crops.
