Scholars say that Job contains material from different periods and was probably written in layers. The references to Satan and to the Book of Isaiah show that the final composition took place during or after the Babylonian Exile. There is uncertainty as to whether it was written in Jerusalem or in the diaspora, such as in Babylon.

It is not known who wrote the book of Job but it was most likely written by Job. It is also possible to have been written by Moses, Solomon, or Elihu.
In this case, it would be author.However, this sentence is redundant and should be avoid for a simpler version: "John Steinbeck is the author of the book" or "John Steinbeck is the man WHO wrote the book."
