The Israelites
Abraham journeyed to Canaan without descendants, since he had not had any children at that point. He made the trip with his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, and a number of unnamed servants (Genesis ch.12).
Later, it was Abraham's Israelite descendants who left Egypt and settled in Canaan.

Jews are from the Fertile Crescent, which includes Mesopotamia, Israel and neighboring areas. Abraham our forefather came to what is now Israel from Babylonia. The Forefathers (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) lived in Israel (Canaan), as did their Israelite descendants from the time of Joshua onwards. About 3,000 years ago, King David established Jerusalem as his capital city and his royal descendants ruled there for the ensuing centuries. Solomon built the Holy Temple there.
