The first baptist missionary into Japan was Jonathan Goble. He entered Japan along with his wife in the April of 1860. and was part of The American Baptist Free Mission Society. He was very gifted in Bible translation due to his capability in languages. His translations of Scripture into Japanese, one of the first translations for Japan, exist to this day.
