Mohammad was the author of the Koran. From my reading he was trained in the catholic Bible in his youth around the 600 A D plus time period. Then married a well to do lady and at a later time wrote the Koran. There are however things in the Koran which indicates that he rewrote The Bible and of course added his input. he also says that the Angle Gabriel told him what to write.
Other sources indicate that Mohammed never actually read the Bible, so he had no training in or understanding of a book of which he claimed to have extensive knowledge.

∙ 9y agoIt depends on who you ask. Muslims argue that the Qur'an was authored by God and Muhammad simply revealed that which was told to him. Non-Muslims either (1) accept the Muslim account, (2) argue that Muhammad himself authored the Qur'an and it represents his perspective, perhaps with or without divine guidance, or (3) argue that it was written by a committee of Muslims after the conquest of the Levant and Persia.
