The thief on the cross next to Jesus.
Nope. If you mean the first Christian to be killed that would be John the Baptist. If you mean the first to die including a natural death who believed in Jesus then that becomes hairy: A-People believed in Jesus before He was born, ie prophets and the followers of Scripture. Those people believed in Jesus and died before He was born. B-If you are talking about the first to die after actually meeting Him, then that would be a man named Simeon, who was promised by God that he would not see death until he saw the Messiah.

.

AnswerThe first people to be called "Christians" were people who believed Jesus was the Messiah and had been killed, buried for three days, and resurrected.

Believers were first called "Christians" in Antioch:-
Act 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
This was in Paul's first missionary journey in 45AD, but since Christ was crucified in 32AD [as dated by Sir Roger Anderson], either no believers in Christ died for 13 years, [which is patently ridiculous!] or they were called something else.

This means the first Christian to die could not have been called a Christian because the word didn't even exist. Since they were seen by authorities as a sect of the jews, they may have been called "Messianic Jews" !

No-body could be called "Christian" until Christ had died, so this means John the Baptist and Simeon could not have been called Christians.

Before He died, Jesus promised the repentant thief that he would be with Him in Paradise:-
Luk 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
Luk 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
The thief died after Jesus because he had to have his legs broken to hasten his death, but Jesus was already dead. This means the first Christian was the repentant thief crucified with Jesus.
