When you put the Mentos which coke makes it explode?

The soft layer before that will dissolve in water, like in your mouth. When the mentos is put into the coke, the soft layer is dissolved off. The rough sorface of the mentos releases the carbon dioxide dissolved inside the coke (H2CO3), but the mentos is small, and can only hold a little ammount of the carbon dioxide. But once the carbon dioxide is released, this reaction cannot be reversed, all the excess carbon dioxide rushes out. This set-up will work best on diet coke because it contains no sugar to act as impurities.
