according to Inform.com, and numerous other sites, 1903 - 1905 Roald Amundsen: Born 1872 at Borge, near the town of Sarpsborg, in southeast Norway. On Dec. 14, 1911, Amundsen, a Norwegian, became the first person to reach the South Pole, beating Robert F. Scott, a Briton. Scott and four companions reached the pole the following month but died on the way out.

Robert Peary :) in the year 1960
No birds actually live in the North Pole, which is a floating ice shelf incapable of supporting life. However, there are bird species which visit the Arctic, which is where the North Pole is situated. Migratory birds that visit the Arctic include the Arctic tern, Snow goose and puffin. Other birds observed near the North pole are the Snow Bunting, Northern Fulmar and Black-legge Kittiwake.
the first 2 men on the north pole were Matthew Henson and Robert perry. but the first man to step foot on the north pole was Matthew Henson, he was 45minutes ahead of Robert perry meaning he stepped on the north pole 45minutes before Robert perry did. an amazing fact HUH?
He never visited the North Pole.
Robert Peary

The North Pole lies in the Arctic, the South Pole is in the Antarctic. So it'd be impossible to reach North Pole in Antarctic, since it isn't there.
Albert P. Crary was the first to visit both poles, reaching the North Pole in 1952 and the South Pole in 1961. (see: http://www.answers.com/topic/albert-p-crary)

Robert E. Peary is known for his exploration of the North Pole. He, Matthew Henson, and four Inuit were the first to reach the Pole. Although Robert E Peary was going to be the first person ever to make it to the North Pole, his toes became frostbitten and Matthew Henson was the first person ever to make it to the North Pole.
Matthew Alexander Henson :) suckuz
