The leader of Japan can be identify in two ways which is either the first emperor or the first prime minister. For reference, the country's first emperor was Emperor Jimmu (February 18, 660 BC to April 9, 585 BC) and the first Prime Minister was Ito Hirobumi (December 22, 1885 to April 30, 1888).

Emperor Jimmu (written as 神武天皇 , pronounced asJinmu-tennō) was the first Emperor of Japan, according to the traditional order of succession. He is also known as Kamuyamato Iwarebiko and personally as Wakamikenu no Mikoto or Sano no Mikoto.

While Japan had (and still has) Empress consorts, the very idea of a Regnant Woman ruler in the Japanese Empire was off-limits. Japan well into the twentieth century was very (Misogynistic) anti-women.
