Democritus. He was a Greek philiosopher and theorized at some point-he was experimenting with cheese(he was an Epicure) there was a certain invisible point wher matter would cese to exist but would remain indivisble-the word atomos meaning that which cannot be divided.
The Atom was not 'invented', it was discovered and technically no one has ever seen one, because they are too small to be seen by modern microscopes (even Electron Microscopes), but John Dalton is widely considered the father of modern Atomic theory, which established the foundations of the concept that matter was composed of atoms atoms. He developed the theory around 1800 and established that is was in accord with some of the basic rules of chemistry.
No person invented the atom. You can attribute the inventor to God or to evolution, but not to a person. There is a answer here that talks about who discovered the atom.
The first person to suggest such a thing was either Democritus or his mentor Leucippus. They used the word "atomos", were completely wrong about the nature of the thing, didn't really have a clue what they were talking about and would properly be called "natural philosophers" rather than scientists. (What's the difference? The approach of the natural philosophers was to make theories up based on how they thought the universe shouldwork. The scientific approach, on the other hand, is to collect data about how the universe actually does work, and then try to come up with a theory that fits.)
But that's where the name comes from.

I believe it was Enrico Fermi, and a number of other scientists.
it is named for the number of oxygen atoms in the ion and/or oxidation state of the atom to which the oxygen is bonded.
Schrödinger and Heisenberg did not discover the atom. Knowledge of the existence of atoms grew out of decades of research by many scientists, starting in the 1700s.

Scientists developed the atom bomb.
Scientists have split the atom.
The cation, the positively charged atom, is named first and the anion, the negatively charged atom is named second and the suffix ide is added to the anions name.Na +andCl -formNaCl=========Sodium chloride
The first nuclear explosive tested was code named Gadget. July 16, 1945.The first nuclear bomb dropped was code named Little Boy. August 6, 1945.It remains unknown when the first atom bomb was created.
