He found present day Singapore. He was a prince of Palembang, who went exploring. So, technically, yes, he could be considered the founder of modern Singapore.
no he is not Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles is the founder. William farquhar is the 1st resident of Singapore. He was in charge of everything in Singapore when stamford raffles left Singapore.
The franchisee of McDonald's Singapore is Ray Krock the founder of McDonald.
There is no 'inventor' of Singapore, but the if you are referring to the founder then it's Sir Stamford Raffles. :)
An English man named Thomas Stamford Raffles is the founder of Singapore, but the father of Singapore is current Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.
he is the founder. period. no SM Lee, no Singapore and there will not be us enjoying our lives right now.
Singapore is an island country located in Southeast Asia. It is also referenced as the Lion City, given the name by the founder of Singapore, Sang Nila Utama.
It is to honour Sir Stamford Raffles who is considered the modern founder of Singapore.
Raffles did contribute to the raising of Singapore but I think William Farquhar also deserves some of the credit. He was the person who really developed Singapore while Raffles was away. Although he did not use Raffles plan, he was quite successful.
LOL ok I just learnt this in history this year. Gonna see how much I can remember. XD anyway, it depends on what is your definition of 'founder'. Most of us would automatically think, Sir Stamford Raffles. But actually, his partner, William Farquhar, was the one who made Singapore flourish and prosper. He helped with the problems Singapore faced in her early years, whereas all Raffles did was to have the amazing foresight that Singapore would be a good trading port (that's why the two of them came to Singapore). Also, there is John Crawfurd, who signed some treaty of some sort, which allowed the British to have the whole of Singapore. All in all, there is no real 'founder', all of them - all of the people in the past had a part in building up singapore's past to the present. Yeah, so, hope I helped you in some sort. ~sorry if there's any typo/wrong info~ ^^
Sang Nila Utama founded Singapore but Sir Stamford Raffles is the founder of modern Singapore. Juinano: However, Major William Farquhar was the major contributor to Singapore's success. Raffles just signed the treaty and left soon after, only to return at intervals to check on progress. Thus, most of Singapore's success is attributed to Major William Farquhar. Thus, he should be the rightful ruler of Singapore.
Lee Kuan Yew was the 1st Prime Minister of Singapore from 1959 to 1990 and continued to be a MP for Tanjong Pagar until his death in 2015. Between 1990 and 2015, he served as Senior Minister of Singapore, Minister Mentor of Singapore (until 2011). He was also a co-founder of the People's Action Party.
