Can adoptive parents terminate the adoption on the probabtionary period?

Yes. It's called "disruption" and it does happen. Sometimes a child comes home with problems so severe that they cannot be handled by the new family; in such cases, the parents can seek to disrupt the adoption. People are frequently horrified at such a thought, because we think that love conquers all. However, in families created by adoption - just as in families created by birth - there can be situations where it is not safe for a child to remain with their family. We all believe we'd never give up on a kid, but we have to realize that disrupting an adoption does NOT mean you gave up. It means you made the best decision you could for your entire family, INCLUDING the child. I am an adoptee, and an adoptive parent, and I know both families who have had to disrupt as well as families who adopted children who had previously been "disrupted." The idea is to do what in the kid's best interest. For example, I have a five year old. If I adopted a 14 year old and that child began beating my 5 year old, sexually molesting him, burning down the house, etc., I might decide that I could not provide a safe home for that 14 year old. Disruptions are uncommon, and come from nightmare scenarios - we're not talking about adopting an infant and then deciding he's too ugly, or not smart enough. We are talking about families who are caught off guard by the severity of the child's problems (e.g. if the problems were not known at the time of adoption, and only surfaced later) and who decide - after MUCH struggle, tears, and misery - that disruption is the only choice for the child. I cannot imagine losing my beautiful son, no matter what. But I have seen enough to know that it does happen in some families, and that anyone who has not been there cannot judge.

How to Recognize the Benefits of Pet Adoption?

Many household pets are abandoned on a regular basis, left to fend for themselves on unfriendly city streets. Many of these animals will be put down unless they can find a safe home via pet adoption. Three major benefits are associated with pet adoption. First, you will literally be saving the life of an animal in your community. Second, you will be adding value to your own quality of life. Third, you will be supporting local pet adoption agencies that function beneath constant pressure to save the lives of animals.Save Animal LivesMany dogs and cats are doomed to be ’put down’ if they are not successfully adopted by caring families in their community. When you take a new pet into your home by way of pet adoption, you will be doing your part to end the senseless deaths of animals in your region. Instead of taking a trip to the local pet store, consider traveling instead to your local pet adoption agency in order to find the newest member of your family. Pet adoption will likely save you money as well as save the life of a little pet dog or cat.Enhance Your Own LifeResearch shows that individuals that snuggle and stroke pets on a regular basis tend to get sick less and live longer than those who do not. Pet adoption can therefore increase your personal quality of life in a tangible way. When you love your little pet, you are effectively increasing Serotonin levels in your body, which can help to stave off depression and keep your immune system functioning at peak performance levels. Thus, adopting a pet via your local pet adoption agency can very well serve as a means to live a healthier, happier life on planet earth.Support Pet Adoption AgenciesPet adoption agencies receive numerous stray and abandoned animals every year and they are under a constant pressure to find these animals safe and loving homes. When you decide to visit your local pet adoption agency instead of getting your next pet from a store in your region, you are effectively supporting your community and your local pet adoption agency.
