The link to Denmark was through his father. In 1863 Prince William of Denmark (the brother of Czarina Marie Feodorovna and Queen Alexandra of England) who was the son of King Christian IX of Denmark became King George I of Greece. He married Grand Duchess Olga of Russia and had many children. Their son Andrew married Princess Alice of Battenberg (the great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria.) Andrew and Alice were Prince Phillips parents.
