Mr. John Dalton B..1766 D..1844 1803 john put it together. teacher and scientist about 4 yrs later Dalton wrote a book called " A New System of Chemical Philosophy. Me personaly hae never seen or read his book, but it is said to be the first book to use symbols to identify elements. The name Dalton was also used in the weight of atomic units Example hearing someone say its 230 daltons.
The atom was not found or discovered. The atom was conceptualized by thinking people who reasoned that if a given thing, whatever it might be, is divided and then divided again continuously, a point is reached where it can no longer be divided. The smallest thing left that cannot be further divided is an atom. Early records from India speak to the idea being extant in the 6th century BC, and later at about half a century BC the Greeks recorded the idea. And it was the Greeks who called this indivisible unit an atom, the term we use today. No one individual is identified as the person to come up with the idea. As an aside, the effects of moving air were observed for thousands of years after atoms were thought of. It was surmised that small things were at work, but the details were elusive. It would have to wait until about 1803 before John Dalton, an early pioneer in chemistry, began to nail the idea down with empirical data. It took about another century for some pioneers in physics (namely J.J. Thompson, Ernest Rutherford and Niels Bohr) to come up with a correct model.
There are three laws that comprise atomic theory. The first is the law of the conservation of mass, which was developed by Antoine Lavoisier in 1789. The second is the law of definite proportions, which was was developed by Joseph Louis Proust in 1799. The third is the law of multiple proportions, which was developed by John Dalton in 1808. These three together are credited with founding atomic theory.
it is a scientist called Dalton who coined the term atom.
Niels Bohr is considered the founder of the modern atomic model.
