ALL American dimes have the word LIBERTY on them so that's not a distinguishing feature. Dimes dated 1946 and later are normally called Roosevelt dimes because they show a picture of President Franklin Roosevelt.
Silver Roosevelt dimes are so common most are valued for the silver only at about $1.25. High grade uncirculated 1961-D coins sell for under $2.00
A 1961 dime is worth about $2 to $6, depending on its condition. The letters JS are not a mint mark. They're the initials of John Sinnock who sculpted Roosevelt's bust as it appears on the coin. Those initials appear on all Roosevelt dimes regardless of where or when they were minted.
The 23rd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution allows the Presidential vote for the District of Columbia. The amendment was proposed by Congress on June 16, 1960 and was ratified on March 29, 1961.
Yes. US dimes, quarters, and half dollars dated 1964 and earlier, as well as silver dollars dated 1935 and earlier, are made of an alloy of 90% silver and 10% copper. A 90% silver quarter contains about 0.18 of a troy ounce of silver, and its value as scrap metal will change along with precious metal prices.
