they were forced out and had to walk or be killed by the British. it was called the trail of tears.
Cherokees are usual residents of Georgia,Virginia,Kentucky,Tennessee,and North & South Carolina. Most Cherokees were forced to move to Oklahoma in the 1800's along the "Trail of Tears."
The Trail of Tears taken by the Cherokees led them to Oklahoma.
To Indian Territory (now known as Oklahoma) through 11 states.
The Cherokee arrived in Oklahoma after the tragic winter of 1838-1839. This is called the trail of tears where the Cherokee as a sovereign nation were forced by treaty to leave Northern Georgia.
Thousands of Cherokees died while walking to Oklahoma
Cherokees were in GA and they had to be moved to Oklahoma so.. it happened between GA to Oklahoma 800miles!
It ended in present day Oklahoma.
The cherokees were forced to go on it.
The Cherokee were not actually forced south, other than from crowding with settlers, they were forced west on the Trail of Tears.
