He is a time traveler.
Fixing the time line to insure the time line he is from.
There have been a few discussions as to who or whom he is or was.
But for the most part, minor person claiming to be time traveler; all have had the same take on the founding of the U.S. It was a created ideal given to the founding fathers that were master masons. They were charged to make this nation as it is.
Every time the nation seems to be going off course, one of these "Professors" shows up and thing get hairy and put back on track.
On the flip side of this, the crazy notion of this is just like a fictional character of BBC fame, the Doctor. But what a better cover then to have a fiction show based on time travel with a guy who does what you do, to make a theory sound crazy, and discredit the idea of time travel. Much less make the time traveler British.
