Some priests choose to wear the black zucchetto, bishops wear a fuchsia(pinkish purple) one, cardinals wear a red one. And finally the pope wears a white one. Note: Some religious orders wear one, also only men can wear it. Did you know at the Institute of Christ the King the clerics there either wear a black one or a light blue one?

Why does the pope wear a yarmulkah?

The pope does not wear a yamaka, he wears a white zucchetto. A Zucchetto is a small round skullcape worn by all prelates in the Catholic Church; white for the pope, red for cardinals, purpose for bishops, and black for abbots. Other priests may also wear a black zucchetto.

Do catholics wear beanies?

Roman Catholic AnswerI'm going to step out on a limb here and assume that you're asking if Catholics wear skull caps. The answer is yes, for priests and bishops. It is called a zucchetto, a small round skullcap and it is different colors depending on who is wearing it: The Holy Father wears a white zucchetto, Cardinals wear a red zucchetto, and there is a ceremony when the Holy Father creates Cardinal in which he personally gives them their zucchetto. Purple is for bishops and some Monsignors, and black is for abbots (the ruler of a monastery), although I have seen some priests wearing a black zucchetto as well.

Why do some Catholic Cardinals where pink skull caps?

They don't, Catholic Cardinals wear a cardinal red zucchetto - which looks an awful lot like a "skull cap" but isn't. Actually, all clerics may wear a zucchetto, priests wear black, bishops wear purple or violet, Cardinals wear red, and the Holy Father wears white.

Is Al Pacino a jew?

Al Pacino is a practising Roman Catholic. In many photgraphs, you can see he wears roasary beads. I have seen him many times leaving a Roman Catholic church in New York, which speaks Latin. There was an interview in which Pacino stated that the only place he was allowed to go as a child was "Church, school and the movies". In the early 1970s, after breifly lapsing in his religion, Pacino began attending church again, this was during "The Godfather" filming, so perhaps it was the culture of the Italian Americans that was making him feel closer to his religion, who knows? However, he is a practising Roman Catholic, and is quite religious.

Why does the pope wear a beanie?

Every aspect of the Catholic church and the teachings of Catholicism are based off of two things. One of those things is scripture and the other is tradition. To be more precise, the pope wears the clothing that he does because it is something that has been established in the Roman Catholic Church for a long period of time.
