Yes. The Narragansetts, the Wampanoags, the Pequots, the Nipmunks, and the Niantics were all the Native Americans in Rhode Island.
The Mohegan people lived in the area that became eastern Connecticut. They split into two factions (for and against the English), becoming known as Mohegans and Pequots from the early 1600s. The Mohegans fought the Narragansetts in 1635 and attacked their old relatives the Pequots in 1637, destroying the major village at Mystic. Both factions suffered losses over time, until most moved to New York state under the name of Brotherton Indians.
The Mashatunket Pequots of Ledyard, Connecticut would be considered one of the wealthiest tribes today. They own and run the world's largest and most successful gambling resort. Interestingly, they were one of the poorest tribes on the east coast before opening the casino.
There were several tribes living in Connecticut. The major ones were the Mohegans, Pequots (originally the same tribe until their split in the 1750's),the Narragansetts and Mohawks also were there since the bounderies that are now Connecticut are not the same as during the colonial times.
