The first followers of Hinduism cannot be dated because of the lack of historic date. However evidence suggests that the oldest of Hindu sacred books the Rig Veda was composed nearly 4200 years ago. There are evidence of an earlier civilization to follow Hinduism that is the Indus valley civilization. Where certain seals of Hindu deities like Pashupati or Shiva and Shakti has been found. Indus valley civilization is dated around 5000 years old. So they may be the first followers.

The initial followers of any movement are generally not identified by any special name. As an example it is unlikely that the Christians Jesus called a group of men together and said "How would you guys like to follow me? You can call yourself 'Christians'."

The term disciples might be appropriate. An early disciple Mahakasyapa took over leadership of the Sangha (the group of followers or community) after Buddha's death and called the First Council. The followers may have self identified at that point in time.
