Most people involved in the modern Wicca believe in God and Goddess (which is just what they are called), and that they work in harmony. They are neither good nor evil, but neutral and natural.

There are many gods and goddesses with whom Wiccans can work. Wicca is a polytheistic, practice-based religion and practitioners work with at least one god and one goddess in each ritual. However, these may not always be the same god and the same goddess worked with in other rituals.

Wiccans can choose to work with just one god and one goddess all the time, or can work with any number of deities. Wiccan covens may work with just one deity-pair or many. Some pantheons of divine beings with whom Wiccans may work include the Norse, the Greek, the Welsh, the Roman, or the Egyptian. There are others too.

When Wiccans refer to "The Lord and the Lady," they are not referring to individual deities but to the god and goddess with whom they happen to be working for a particular rite. The term, "Horned god" and "Triple goddess" are likewise classifications of deities, not names of individual deities. Not all gods with whom Wiccans work are horned and not all goddesses with whom Wiccans work are triple-aspected either.

Wiccans may or may not have Matron and Patron-relationships with divine beings. These are contractual, special relationships maintained by Wiccans in their spiritual practices. Some Wiccans simply work with "All Mother" and "All Father." Others work with various gods and goddesses. Each Wiccan rite always honors one god and one goddess in order to fall under the classification of a Wiccan ritual.

Wicca recognizes many forms of the Divine. In Dianic Wicca, the Goddess is worshipped, and every name of every goddess throughout the world is identified with the one Mother Goddess. In other forms of Wicca, both gods and goddess are recognized and celebrated. A very common confession that expresses the broad, underlying faith if Wicca is, "All the gods are one God, all the goddesses are one Goddess, and the God and the Goddess are One." In that sense, Wicca can be said to be both polytheistic and radically monotheistic.
