The SUMERIAN CIVILIZATION developed cuneiform as a method of transcribing concepts.
Cuneiform Script was the Mesopotamians way of writing. It was written on clay tablets, if I remember correctly around the 30th Century BC. They were pictographs, similar to what you know of the Egyptians.
It was first used to make wedge-shaped symbols on clay tablets.
Cuneiform is a method of writing on clay by using a reed stylus to make imprints that form ideographic characters (like modern Chinese). The system was adopted as a writing system in Mesopotamia because clay and reeds were abundant there.

Cuneiform was typically made by pressing a stylus into clay, creating wedge-shaped markings. Clay tablets were then dried or fired to preserve the writing. The clay was the primary material used for cuneiform writing in ancient Mesopotamia.
People in ancient Mesopotamia wrote in cuneiform on clay tablets using a wedge-shaped stylus. These clay tablets were also baked in the sun to harden them and preserve the writing. Cuneiform was primarily used for administrative, economic, and religious purposes in Sumerian, Akkadian, and other Mesopotamian cultures.
Cuneiform was written on clay tablets using a reed stylus. The stylus was used to make wedge-shaped impressions on the wet clay, which allowed scribes in ancient Mesopotamia to form the script. The characters were formed by combining different arrangements of these wedges to represent various sounds and words.
The Sumerians used clay tablets as the primary material for cuneiform writing. They would imprint wedge-shaped marks, called cuneiform, into the soft clay using a stylus made of reed or wood. The clay tablets were then either baked or left to dry in the sun, which helped preserve the writings for thousands of years.
Cuneiform was the earliest form of writing used by ancient civilizations in Mesopotamia, where wedge-shaped characters were pressed onto clay tablets.
The worlds fist system of writing...they wrote on clay tablets with a stylus
The Sumerians.
It was called cuneiform, and was written with a stylus that was triangular in cross section, so as it was pressed into soft clay it made "letters" composed of triangular strokes. The clay tablets would be fired into hardness when done to preserve them, and so we still have some intact examples today.
Cuneiform is a system of writing that uses a series of wedge-shaped characters. An example of using cuneiform in a sentence would be: "The ancient Sumerians used cuneiform to record their daily activities on clay tablets."
