Approximately 37 US fixed-wing aircraft and 23 rotor-wing aircraft were lost during DS. Approximately 15 of those fixed-wing aircraft & 18 of the rotor-wing aircraft were lost to operational causes (accidents).

The bulk of the Iraqi Air Force was destroyed by "smart weapons" and other air delivered ordinance. Approximately 38 aircraft were shot down; the remaining survivors took off and sped into the country of IRAN.
"No fly zone" operations were conducted post Desert Storm (in Iraq). Operation Restore Hope in Somolia was the next operation in 1993 (see film: Black Hawk Down).
He was officially credited with 80 downed aircraft. He shot down some aircraft that he did NOT receive credit and some say he was given credit that he did not down---his wingman downed it. Also, he was responsible for almost the same number of enemy aircraft killed. Some enemy pilots he shot down survived but then other aircraft he shot down had 2 crew.
Aces were pilots who shot down 5 or more enemy aircraft. Also, the term was loosely applied to German soldiers who destroyed more than 5 tanks.
Ace
One was lost during Operation Desert Storm (January-February 1991).
No. The F-15 eagle crashed in Libya but none of the pilots were killed. The aircraft pilots of the F-15 eagle immediately eject from the aircraft before it hit the ground. The pilots successfully landed safely on the ground but no pilots were hurt.
Approximately less than 30 were downed; the vast majority were destroyed on the ground; the survivors of the those "fled" into Iran.
During WWII, if any pilot saw his buddies hanging in their parachutes being shot at by enemy aircraft, the chances are he will shoot down that enemy plane and kill the pilot hanging in his parachute in retribution. Since dogfight warfare was all about the numbers of shooting down aircraft, most pilots feel unconfortable about killing parachuting enemy pilots but that's not to say it didn't happen.

US pilots flying propeller driven airplanes shot down German experimental jets during the last stages of WWII.

No, however some Japanese pilots that were shot down or damaged tried to crash their aircraft into something important.
No. The F-15 eagle was not shot down by any AA Missile launchers(anti-aircraft missile launchers). It crashed in Libya but no pilots were killed. The pilots of the F-15 eagle ejected from the aircraft by jumping out of the plane with the parachute behind them. Somehow they managed to land safely on the ground. Gadafi - "we shot down one of the planes!" Allied Forces - "The plane had engine problems!" Aircraft's are some of the most advanced technology and they often don't crash but when it comes to the military testing and pushing the technology to the brink they can run into problems. So if you know aircraft's you can find very in-demand jobs!
