Every god and goddess which we know in the modern day out of Egypt was once worshiped, most likely at one point was a "main" god/goddess of a certain city or place. Their names being recorded by priests and worshipers is how we know of these ancient gods/ goddesses today. Why they worshiped mostly had to do with what the gods/goddess of ancient Egypt had a certain of (mostly as protectors of certain profession and health, or aspects/parts of life).
