The word music comes from the Greek word (mousike), which means "(art) of the Muses". In Ancient Greece the Muses included the goddesses of music, poetry, art, and dance.
Hesiod, the ancient Greek poet, said that the Muses were the source of his inspiration. In his work, "Theogony," he specifically mentions the Muses as the ones who inspired him to tell the stories of the gods and the universe.
