The first WSOP took place in Las Vegas at Binion's Horseshow. It was a series of cash games, such as five card stud, deuce to seven low ball draw, razz, seven card stud and Texas Hold'em. Having the Main Event as a freeze out Texas Hold'em game, did not start until 1971. In the first year, Johnny Moss, won the Main Event after being voted by the other players as the first World Champion of Poker and took home a silver cup.
