James Ussher, Archbishop of Armagh used Old Testament genealogies to calculate that the world was created in 4004 BCE on the evening of 22nd October. "Young-Earth Creationists" believe that this is literally when the Earth was created, or at least that it happened within the last ten thousand years.
Other creationists, "Old-Earth Creationists" accept the scientifically determined age of the Earth.
