that is one of the hardest questions that could ever be asked because it is testing love. I as a kid have often asked my father the same question and his reply would always be something along these lines..nothing's impossible darling, i would try to save you both or i would die trying...
i thought that was stupid as there was no point of us all dying but now that I'm older i know now that therre is no definite answer to those types of questions as you cannot measure and compare love of your wife to your son's...but if you really really just want a straigh forward answer..I'll have to say maybe... in just the very slightest .. the son..but hey that's just me.

Congratulations! In my opinion your answer was excellent in every respect! And I think your father made an excellent reply. But I would just like to add, as an old man with a lot of experience, I think probably most of us will never know the answer to that question because that will only be known in that somber and sad moment of decision. But sometimes it happens in life and depends on you and your religious or moral upbringing and your relationships with each. But I can tell you that the bond between a father and his son is often as strong as between a man and his Creator. I once saw a 15 yr old boy, who was a stranger, drowning at the beach and he was too far out and the tide was going out. I knew that I could swim well but he had been carried out too far and I knew that we both might drown if I tried to save him. It was a terrible moment for me and I was afraid-I had to decide just how much value I put on human life. I would have to live with my conscience afterwards. I swam to the boy and we did indeed almost drown and barely made it to shallow water unable to stand up from weakness. The boy cried to me hysterically and couldn't think of what to say. So, to me it isn't really a test of your love for a woman or family, but a test of your own soul and your relationship with our Creator.
Drowning in cold water, so both?
Early sailors would get both a pig and a rooster. One on each foot.

That just depends on whether the human or cow has a wound on their leg and/or whether they are thrashing around in the water because they are drowning. Piranha are attracted to both the smell of blood in the water and of stress pheromones emitted by a drowning human or animal.
there are only two men both are fathers and both are sons
