Wikipedia can be edited by anyone on the internet; this is its strength and weakness - anyone who spots an error can correct it, on the other hand vandalism often takes place on entries; particularly contentious articles (articles on religions often attract strong feelings). Wikipedia has various mechanisms for correcting errors; people can be banned from updating articles, articles can be locked to prevent modifications. One of the key things to look for is citations; facts on Wikipedia should be citated; you should be able to check the citations to see where the facts came from.
People all over the world contribute to answering questions. No matter what background they're from, or what their opinions are, everybody is welcome to answer questions on Wiki Answers as long as they are appropriate, and do not contain vandalism.
Most of the answers are provided by volunteer experts and normal people who enjoy helping others and the quest for knowledge. A few answers are provided automatically from professional databases, but the majority of questions are answered manually.
Anyone who feels that they may know an answer to a question or may know something about a specific topic is free to write the WikiAnswer articles.
