Who writes the song Forgive Me?

This seems to be a very old church song sung by different artists and with different lyrics and I haven't been able to track down who wrote it. The band 'Group 1 Crew' with Manuel, Pablo and Blanca brought it to the forefront of hip hop/rap. I don't really care for hip hop or rap, but I have to say they did it with style and I loved listening to it. Here are the lyrics: Group 1 Crew - Forgive Me lyrics (Chorus:)
