Computers don't count in multiples of 10 but in powers of 2 (bit is on or off). Instead of going 1, 10, 100, 1000, it goes 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024. Well, that's not far from 1000, so the IT professionals called it a kilo. A megabyte is then 1024 X 1024 and a gigabyte is another 1024 times that. The percent of variation from the metric prefixes keeps getting larger and larger. Scroll down to related links and look at "When is a kilobyte a kibibyte? And an MB an MiB?"
it means the numbers in the metric system
Metric numbers are represented using decimal places rather than fractions usually.
numbers
Scientific notation is scientific notation - whether it is used for metric units, Imperial units or simply for numbers.
Decimals are a way to represent numbers whereas metric refers to a system of measurements. There can be no conversion from one to the other.
The numbers represent the size and grade of the material. The size is now a metric equivalent (soft metric size) in the US. A symbol (third item on bar) is a designation of the producing mill.
They should be metric, bolts with numbers on them 8.8,9.8 ect. There could be a few SAE bolts on the engine depending on your engine type.If there are no numbers on them, and have short slashes they are SAE.
Probably centimetres.
They are based on numbers or units being related to one another numbers by powers of 10.
Because metric units are based on the number 10, 100, and 1000 and not the numbers 2, 3, 4, 12, and 5280.
no...litre is a metric unit of measurement...decimals are just numbers
