-Yeah, not really. My grandparents on my mom side are greek and they never put up a tree. Its more of an American thing. I don't think Italians do it either.
Some people do have Christmas trees in Greece but some don't because they hang up a shallow wooden bowl and for every day of the 12 days until Christmas they dip a cross in the holy water they put in the bowl and they sprinkle the water in every room to keep the killantzarois away which they are mean spirits that come the 12 days until Christmas.
