Ordinary people are hand chosen by God to deliver His messages. The message is more believable and easier to understand when the one delivering the message to you is no different than yourself. And the message is the focal point, not the one providing it. This reminds me of a great poem by Helen Steiner Rice that was made into a song named 'The Christmas Guest'. God came to visit a man as a shaggy beggar, an old woman and a lost child but the man thought God had not come as He had promised he would in a dream. Although the man didn't know this was God, each time they knocked on the door, the man offered kindness and help to them. At the end of the story we learn God did come to visit the man:
"Three times My shadow crossed your floor--
Three times I came to your lonely door--
For I was the beggar with bruised, cold feet,
I was the woman you gave to eat,
And I was the child on the homeless street."
