New York City lit up purple lights on the George Washington Bridge in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. They are actually pink lights but take on a purple hue when lit up. Some thought that the bridge was lit up this purple color for gay pride to honor the Rutgers freshman who committed suicide off the bridge in late September. However, this was just a rumor.
