Yes, the most popular branch of Gibson is Epiphone. These are great guitars! Tobias and Baldwin are other favorite that�s under the Gobson name. Signature Les Pauls are my absolute favorite and are built by Gibson/Epiphone. Kramer is also a Gibson name. Gibson currently has 18 additional name brands. They are like the General Motors of guitars. GM is Chevy, Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac, Saturn, Hummer, Saab, etc. etc. etc. all in one therefore a bunch of brands in one name.
Why are Gibson guitars so expensive?
The answer to this is simple. Gibson guitars are hand crafted. Along with many other brands if a guitar is hand crafted it will only mean one thing, more damage to your wallet. That's why larger companies make affordable guitars to the public as well, the only difference is that the cheaper you go the more chance that the guitar was made overseas by machines. Fender has Squire, Gibson has Epiphone, and ESP has LTD....I could go on, but you get the point.

yes, in fact there is! they also make them in china and japan. but do not worry about the quality of the guitar cuz its still a Gibson guitar. Gibson also makes its Epiphone brand guitars in Asia. in my mind, Gibson `s that are made in the USA and Japan are a little better in sound than a Gibson`s from china. Chinese Gibson guitars are built to get the point across, but not to the true Gibson feel. so if you get one made there dont worry about the sound or looks. I mean A Gibson Is A Gibson.

The Tele is a preferred guitar for country & Western music for the twangy sound of it's pick ups. but mainly any quality guitar is better than others because you like it better. personally I think the '64 Gibson Firebird V is the best.
