The same reason as the other countries that have nuclear power plans. Firstly to show off power. The other reason : Fear. Not even for energy generation, nuclear capability is justified due to the high risk that nuclear power plants represent.

Does the UK need new nuclear power stations?

We are all used to "power on demand" which means when we do something that includes electricity, we expect something to happen. We can use "unreliable sources" such as wind turbines etc but just in case that plan doesn't come into place, we should have something else that will generate our electricity (a nuclear power station.) Governments need to do this!Nuclear power is currently the only meaningful technology that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Unlike, for example, solar power where the energy investment equation can be negative when looking at the environmental impact. Until people are ready to give up dishwashers, washing machines and all the other labor saving devices then nuclear power is essential. There are many arguements for and against nuclear power. The UK relies on nuclear power for 20% of its electricity. It dominates in some countries (78% in France). Although there are many concerns about safely displosing of it. Renewable energy is an alternative to nuclear power.AIn my opinion yesAbut in what way would the UK need more power stations i no that 20% of the UK`s electricity is nuclear produced but it can cause very harmful affects on som people and in sellafeild a small village near the power stations children were 78% more likely to get leaukemia.

Does Malaysia have nuclear power plants?

No it doesn't having Nuclear powere station The correct answer would be 'currently' Malaysia does not have any nuclear power plants but the government has announced the plan to build 2 nuclear power plants by 2020. As Malaysia has been heavily reliant on gas (around 60%) and coal (30%) the government would like to diversify the energy production and start using nuclear energy as the power generation for the rising electricity demand since it is cheaper in comparative. To produce 1,000 megawatts for one year 20 million tonnes of coal are need whereas only 30 tonnes of uranium are needed. I think this is a sufficient answer; Malaysia will have two nuclear power plants within the next decade or so.
