New Zealand deployed their artillerymen to South Vietnam; the only allied nation to send strictly "volunteers." Originally NZ artillerymen utilized their own field guns, shortly after arriving in country they transitioned to US field pieces (105mm split trail field guns).

In World War I, around 17,000 died. In world war II around 12000died, bringing the total of the two wars to 29,000. A much smaller amount have died in other wars.
Nations: North Vietnam & VC (South Viet communists) vs US, Australia, NZ, PI, ROK, Thailand, and RVN. Branches: USA & USMC fought the NVA/VC USAF & USN (air units) fought the NVAF & NV Navy (P4 torpedo boats in the Tonkin Gulf in 1964). USMC jets didn't fight the NVAF over North Vietnam; they provided air strikes for their men on the ground in RVN.
