Oil pump failure
The oil light is blinking due to lack of pressure. You may need to replace the oil pressure sending unit, and/or the oil pump.
It's not the gasoline light that's blinking, it's the oil light. Which means you need to change/check your oil (obviously)
The oil light could be blinking in an Isuzu Rodeo because it is time to get the oil changed. This could also occur if the oil is low.
Low oil pressure - due to internally worn engine? Bad connection to oil sending unit? Bad oil sending unit? Weak oil pump? Low oil Level?
The oil light is comign on to tell you the oil pressure is low. It is not a gauge to tell you oil is low. Your oil pump may be going out and when it loses pressure it sets the light off. Or you could have engine wear to the place that the oil pressure is running low enough to set the warning light off. You may have a bad oil pressure sending unit as well setting off the light so I woul dcheck the oil sending unit first, maybe hook a gauge to it and see what for oil pressure you have and try to determine why your light is coming on.
put some oil in it then!!
I must not be getting oil.
That light has nothing to do with the level of oil. If it's blinking it means the oil pressure is extremely low and strictly saying car should not be driven. There are couple reasons for that. First one is your oil filter is clogged and has to be replaced. Second is the oil pressure sensor does not read the pressure properly. Third oil pressure release valve went bad. And forth one is your oil pump has to be replaced.
You probably need to get your oil changed?
change the oil and it will go off BZzzzzzzT! Wrong ! This is a very common problem on older Caravans. The oil pressure sender is failing and needs to be replaced. Jim
Inside the engine, bearings (camshaft, rod and crankshaft) float on a thin film of oil. The viscosity of the oil is high enough that the bearings never actually touch the crankshaft or camshaft. The oil is pressurized to force it into the space between the bearing and the bearing "journal". If the oil pressure diminishes below a specific level it may not be forced into the space between all of the bearings, potentially leaving one or more of the bearings without lubrication. It doesn't take many miles of operation with low or no oil pressure before the engine is severely damaged. The blinking oil pressure light indicates that the engine oil pressure is dangerously low.
usually this means you have a bad oil pump. low rpms not enough pressure. Check sender first.
